Bookbindery
Built: c. 1855. Original Building Name: Tuckahoe Shop. Original Location: Route 50, Tuckahoe. Acquired by HCSV: 1991
The Tuckahoe shop is now home to the trade of bookbinding and other publishing and binding demonstrations.
This charming shop, with its combination of Greek Revival and early Victorian, was originally located in the village of Tuckahoe in Upper Township, and was built in the mid-1850s. Among other things, it was used as a tailor shop, a dry goods store, a building and loan association and a municipal hall. It is one of only a handful of extant 19th century shops that remain in the county, and is one of the best preserved. |
