Heritage Weekend

Heritage Weekends on July 27-28 and August 17-18 will follow a somewhat chronological sequence, with the first event focusing on Native cultures and early settlers through the Civil War, and the second weekend focusing on post Civil War and more modern demographics. The goal is to focus on life, art, music, crafts, and foods that make us all Americans.

Channeling Dinner with Psychic Medium Craig McManus

The evening starts with a delicious casual fare in a private dining room at the Cold Spring Grange Restaurant.  The entertainment for the evening is Craig McManus and the spirits he channels. Craig has been working as a medium since the 1990s, channeling for clients around the world. His lifelong fascination with ghosts has also lead him to a career as a prolific author about ghosts and haunting.
After the meal, Craig will tell you when he senses a loved one. He will relay information from that person and act as an intermediary in the conversation between you and your loved ones.  Craig does not control who comes through in a session.  Due to time constraints, not everyone will receive a reading.

Ghost Walks at 8pm on Thursdays in June, July, August & September at Historic Cold Spring Village.
Meet at Cold Spring Brewery for this over 45 minute walking tour.
Please bring bug spray. No Bite Me Cream will be available for sale.
Tickets available at either gate during operating hours or at Cold Spring Brewery thereafter.

Wassail Day

The Village paths come alive with the sounds and smells of wintertime at this free family event. Select buildings will be open where guests can enjoy hands-on crafts, live music, hot beverages and holiday treats served by historical clothed interpreters. Visitors can meet Father Christmas at the Country Store.
The Country Store will be open and stocked with unique holiday gift ideas including traditionally-processed wool, artisan crafts for the home, books, jewelry, toys and old-fashioned candy.

28th Annual Pumpkin Festival & Share the Harvest Food Drive

Free Admission, please bring a non-perishable food item
Families can enjoy pumpkin painting and games throughout the day. A variety of crafters will sell their wares along the Village’s shell-paved lanes.
Vendors will be selling hot dogs, funnel cake, and other snacks.
Visit a haunted house at the Corson Gandy Barn and hop on a fall hayride through the farm.

Civil War Weekend

Visitors can tour Union and Confederate camps and meet authentically clad and equipped military and civilian reenactors who will discuss the everyday lives of Civil War soldiers and the roles civilians played in supporting them.
Battle scheduled for 2pm Saturday & Sunday. Visitors will be unable to enter the Village grounds at 1:45pm. It is strongly encouraged that visitors arrive before 1:30pm. The Village buildings will be closed during the battle and will reopen afterward.

Revolutionary War Encampment

Authentically clad and equipped reenactors bring the American Revolution to life on the grounds of Historic Cold Spring Village, Saturday and Sunday, September 7th and 8th, from 10am to 4:30pm. The event will feature encampments, weaponry and demonstrations from living history groups, including Continentals and Hessians. Visitors can experience an artillery demonstration both days at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Historian Mike Kochan will be in character as Benjamin Franklin demonstrating some of Franklin’s famous inventions and experiments. Children can search the Village for clues in the Patriot Spy game on both Saturday and Sunday. John Ryan, HCSV Assistant Director, will give a special presentation, Flags of the American Revolution, in the Welcome Center on both Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. A reading of the Declaration of Independence at 12pm each day at the Village Gazebo.

Two days of family-friendly, interactive and educational fun are planned for Historic Cold Spring Village’s “Hands-on History” Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 29th-30th, from 10am to 4:30pm. Children will be given a “Pastport” at the start of their Village trip, which can be stamped at the buildings they visit after completing a take-home craft or activity, like writing with a quill pen, carding wool or churning butter. Pastports can be redeemed at the Country Store for a free treat! Other family-friendly activities include games and live entertainment from traditional musician Mary Roth and Penns Woods Puppet Theater. Seafarers’ Weekend

Ahoy, matey! Make sure to stop on into Historic Cold Spring Village and celebrate the maritime history and culture of the famous Jersey Cape at our 11th annual Seafarers’ Weekend on August 24th and 25th from 10:00am-4:30pm. This event will feature pirates, music, and family fun. The Village buildings will be open, featuring historically clothed interpreters who will demonstrate the trades, crafts, and lifestyles of Early America. New this year, Main Deck Productions will be dropping anchor with their 30ft long, 20ft tall pirate ship the Black Pearl at the Welcome Center. Join in on the fun and frivolity with Captain Jack Sparrow and his trusty first mate Morgan! Watch Jack B. Wildered swallow swords or juggle fire! Have your face beautifully transformed by the Painted Pirate Wench or learn how to wield a sword! Guests can board through the backdoor of the Captain’s Cabin for a special photo-op with Captain Jack and tour the ship. You’ll also get a bang out of the ship’s cannon as well! Also new to the Village ranks, Kaptain Kristian and Red will be present to tickle your funny bone. The Sons of the Waves will teach you a new thing or two about the ocean environment and life at sea!

The Valhalla Pirates have been Plundering the Eastern Shores of the American Colonies since 1699.  Captain Black and his scurvy crew will be joining us for a thrilling fight scene on both Saturday and Sunday. The Sea Dogs Maritime Band, an authentic maritime reenactment crew, will perform their sea shanties on both days at the Village Gazebo. Bayman Dan will be teaching all ye scurvy dogs the ways of the fishermen and how he makes his authentic fishing nets.

Children should be on the lookout for gold coins hidden throughout the Village that can be redeemed for a free prize! Adults keep a weather eye for a treasure hunt geared just for you! The Sailors Swill Station Beer Garden will available at the Dennisville Inn to the thirsty sailor fresh off the boat.

Paranormal Weekend

Fascinated by the supernatural? Not sure what the odd noise is at night? Visit Historic Cold Spring Village for Paranormal Weekend Saturday and Sunday, July 7th and 8th from 10am to 4:30pm. In addition to experiencing the Village’s 27 restored, historic buildings dating from 1691-1912, guests can enjoy various workshops, demonstrations and tours which highlight the study of spiritualism and the paranormal. Guests can also shop for good luck charms, talismans and jewelry.  Have your fortunes told by card readers at an additional fee.

During half hour Mini Ghost Walks lead by Bob Bitting guests may explore the Village’s own paranormal occurrences at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm beginning at the Dennisville Inn.

New this season Precision Paranormal and EVP Paranormal teams will be here to share their findings of prior Village investigatios. Long time investigators of the unknown in South Jersey look to debunk paranormal claims using EVP, video, Kinnex and other instrumentation to measure the presenece of the unexplained. Hear and see what they experienced while in the Village.

Meet Kelly Roncace author of “Haunted Gloucester, Cumberland and Salem Counties”. She will share her experiences in paranormal investigation and maybe give a sneak preview into her new book featuring Cape May County and happenings at the Village.

Meet Doug Hogate, Jr. cohost of internet’s Wild Fire Radio of Philadelphia and Founder of Jersey Unique Minds Paranormal Society. He will share his experience at the Village.

Gordon Ward will lecture on Historic Haunts in New Jersey. Gordon hails from North Jersey and has been involved in strange occurances throughout the state. He is an author, podcase host, presenter and musician.

Returning to the Village is Greg Geraci with haunting spirit photography of local sites. Young and old may enjoy children’s crafts, story time and our new Superstition Scavenger Hunt! Additional programs include hands-on demonstrations of divining rods, lectures on Spiritualism and Phrenology of the 19th century, please see hcsv.org for schedule.
